FOR students

The iTheatrics Junior Theater Academy (JTA) offers you the chance to perform a brand new adaptation of a musical in a workshop setting in New York City!

Every summer, iTheatrics workshops new adaptations of Broadway musicals for young performers. Each workshop consists of learning music, choreography, and staging, culminating in a presentation for the musical’s respective licensing company, the show’s creators, and the students’ families. Young performers get the hands-on experience of workshopping a new adaptation with some the finest directors, choreographers, and educators in the field. Titles for this summer include Anastasia, Spongebob the Musical, Dot and the Kangaroo, and Mean Girls.

The iTheatrics one-week programs run from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. Our one-week programs cost $695.00 per student.  iTheatrics will be offering need-based scholarships to qualifying students. The program will take place at a state-of-the-art studio space in the heart of New York City. Students are responsible for their own housing, meals, and transportation. Program dates are as follows:

Our exciting workshop programs feature brand-new adaptations created in partnership with major licensing house Music Theatre International. For each of our workshops, iTheatrics casts an ensemble of actors who spend the week working with professional theater artists learning vocal techniques and advanced performance skills that culminate in a staged reading. With scripts in hand and limited costumes and props, these workshops are attended by the students’ families, invited educators, and the authors of the show. Whether you enjoy classical or contemporary musical theater, we have something for everyone, including a two-week program just for high school students!
The iTheatrics one and two-week programs run from 9am-5pm each day. Our one week programs cost $750 and our two week program costs $1,295. iTheatrics offers numerous need-based scholarships to qualifying students. No student will be turned away due to financial need. Our summers kick off with the filming of the iTheatrics Choreography Videos, an essential part of our educational musical adaptations. Resident Choreographer Steven G. Kennedy takes a select number of songs from each musical we work on and adapts the choreography to make it accessible to young performers.

These numbers are filmed by our fantastic team and features a company of young people we cast every year. Auditions occur both at the iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival and auditions in New York City. Keep your eyes peeled to our website for when that information is readily available.

For the iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival, we are looking for a group of high school and college-aged interns to complete a diverse set of tasks. From making sure our adjudication performance rooms are running smoothly to ensuring that mainstage presenters have exactly what they need—the work can be as planned out or as of-the-moment as possible. We’re looking for students who can handle the flexibility and rigor of a fast-pace environment, while always enjoying the joy of what we do – musical theater. Thank you to all who applied for the 2020 iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival Internship. Applications will reopen again in the fall of 2020.

For the iTheatrics Academy, we hire a set of college-aged interns who will work with us through the duration of the summer season from July through August. Interns will assist our team by warming up students, being a second eye for directors and choreographers, making minimal props and set pieces and helping students stay on track to have a successful week in a workshop environment. We’re looking for young professionals who are looking to develop skills in a rehearsal room while working with young people and helping them achieve their very best. Applications will be made in the spring.
